always in search of that extra gear

High to Low December 8, 2007

Well I still have great legs here in beijing but I learned a valuble leason yesterday…in the race for teh olympics the best form mens nothing if you are not smart. I raced a hard agressive qualification and ended up punching my own ticket. It was dumb and I admit that…but it is good to know that the only person in the way of me doing well at this level now is me. It is frustrating to waist good form at such a big event but it is a leason I needed to learn obviously…what a sport…even when you are better than you have ever been you are still a student.

And I am getting a chance to ride teh madison on sunday…so it was probably for the best…we need points in that race more…so I will now be mentally sharper and race a better race with the legs I have there I think.

It is a painful process but I am getting better at bouncing back and taking disapointment in stride. And I think I am also learing how to be accountable for eveything I do…I take ownership of my vicories and I take responsibility for my defeats…and I think this is one of the most valuble leasons I could learn at this point in my race twards the games.
