I know I know the news is out…and I know I know that everyone who reads about canadian cycling knows but I figured I should put something up on my blog about the most significant injury I have ever suffered in sport.
For those of you who don’t know I managed to dislocate and tear 2 ligaments on my left collarbone. This has left me with a droopy shoulder…but the bummer is it is 2 weeks out from world championships…the world championships that are the key piece of the olympics puzzle…Am I in a movie…PRESERVER OVER COME ETC ETC…
Well this is the real world so what did I do besides grit my teeth and run through the snow with rocky? Well I called the people around me I know could help…these are the people I call all the time to keep me a float. As an athlete you simply float around on the help of others…without this you have no chance…especially in Canada where Private sponsorship is both thin and fickle. So Cycling BC jumped in to help an had me in with a specialist before I was even off the plane… Then It was up to Jenn Turner at Moveo in North Vancouver. Now I have rolled the whole program. Ultra sound, electo stim…movment, ART it is all going on..more training than actuall TRAINING. But it is coming back and I have gone from the sad clown a week ago to hopeful…I did a jump today at about 90%…so that is good.
So things have changed but I guess in the end I just have to work hard be strong and pretend I am in a movie…then things might work out that way.
