So I am pretty sure Svein had some kind of divining rode in is bike bag that helped him hunt down the gold on this triphe won 4 of the 5 events he entered. I had a good run too bringing home a gold in the madison and close silver in the omnium. I was tied on points with the columbian…I thought I had won because I had won more events…but as it turns out it is cumulative time that takes it…and since I sucked it up in the pursuit he took the gold. Gutted.
We started the road race with David V. from Kelly. Good guy…he raced hard in the first half of the race but the South americans had our number from the beginning and given Sveins wining streak the were not going to be tolerant of anyone with a maple leaf on the back. We would attack and no one would work…so in the end a big break ended up going without us…and it would stick…we just spent the day chasing and getting a good training session in…after a successful week it wasn’t a heart breaker. So with the medals Svein and I got we finished 2nd on the national tally. Columbia the team that beat us brought full squads for nearly every event…so not to shabby for a 2 man hit squad.
So now I have spent 10 of my 11 hour lay over in chile on my way home and we just have a 11:45 min flight to LA and 2 hour flight from there and then I am home again…no mater how long or short your trip is it is always nice to be home.
